When do Exeter University make offers?

Does anyone know when Exeter make offers? My DD is applying for languages, and Exeter state that they give equal consideration to all applications received before today's (Jan 15) deadline. This implies that it will be a while after this date before offers are made, but a girl in my daughter's year has already received an offer, and others have heard of more people who have already received offers. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

The universities vary when they make offers - this can also vary by subject... Some get offers within days of application back in September and some don't hear until late March.

Those that state equal consideration often still make offers before Jan 15th, in some cases this is for internationals - in other cases it is because they just do!

One thing to remember is that for good students (ABB) there is less a limit on numbers for the university so they may be over offering - many students get 4-5 offers and the uni then has to attract them.. one way is possibly to offer early

I don't know about Exeter, but I asked at Newcastle when we went for a post application open day (which also included a sort of informal interview that may or may not have effected decisions).

They said that they waited until the application deadline before making offers except with very strong candidates where they made some offers early as that was farer.

My DD got her 1st 2 offers within a couple of weeks of applying, Newcastle a week after our post app visit, Cambridge a week ago... now just waiting for Leeds...

Interesting. My DD's predictions are 3 x A*s, and she thinks that unlikely for the girl who's got the offer. She's actually applying for a joint school which includes a modern language. I think joint schools can sometimes take longer as they effectively have to go through two application processes. She's anxious as she really liked Exeter, but has an unconditional offer elsewhere (which requires a visit still), which is very appealing!

Did google TSR, but couldn't find any relevant threads. I find this forum more manageable for my small brain!

still people waiting on offers, although you have to look through lots of messages

also offers times can vary from course to course.

also occasionally check on ucas trac as some offers have shown up on there before the uni gets in touch and occasionally it doesn't send a notification email.

anyway good luck

My daughter received an offer in November to study geography at Exeter. I do remember, however, that a lecturer there said that sometimes they put students in a 'gathering field' and wait until the January deadline before making decisions. I think this is especially so for the more popular subjects.

We really liked the University and are looking forward to going back there next month to visit again.
