Brentwood to SHSG - journey too far?

Post by burg87 »

We live in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood and are looking at SHSG but I'm concerned about the commute. Its a train from Brentwood/Shenfield to Southend Victoria then a bus. Over an hour's commute for an 11 yr old, on public transport.

WHSG is much better served with a direct bus from Brentwood, but DD prefers SHSG which seems to have the poorest transport links out of all the CSSE schools.

If anyone has any experience of this journey I'd love to hear it.

Thanks

DD is in year 8 at SHSG and has an easy journey via a few stops on the c2c line and a walk from Southend East, but lots of girls do travel in to Sourhend Vic and get the bus from the interchange outside the station. As commutes go, it's one of the easier ones, I think. Some of DD's friends come from much less accessible places :)

Both DD and her brother in year 12 love SHSG so I would hate to try to put anyone off, but ChCHS would be easier to get to?
