Re: woodford OR chelmsford
Ah she seems really happy and that's the main thing. I assumed they would get alot of homework! I know there are very few White/English children in the school too and happy to hear that she has settled in fine. How does she travel to school by the way. If DD went it would be 2 buses from Newbury Park.

Quite heavy on homework compared to the comprehensives, she's supposed to be getting 1 to 1.5 hours a night, its more like 2 hours per night. There are clubs every night though limited numbers but as long as you're quick you can get them.
Not much time left for socialising after that but the girls certainly know how to text and DD had 318 messages from her class on just a few hours on Sunday and the texts start at 6am and finish around 11pm.
DD loves it apart from homework. She's one of only 3 white girls in her year but has found really good friends fine. She does tell me there is now one white boy in the sixth form which I'm intrigued about. DS would be in heaven in a girl's school.

We are quite close to Woodford, husband drops her off in the morning by car and she gets the bus back. You are allowed to cycle from January so then she may cycle if can find a safe route and obviously not down the main road.
Most of the girls come from Ilford way, main methods are either tube or bus. Tube is more reliable on timings. They have to be in for 8.20am for 8.30am registration and finish at 3.30pm, clubs go until 5pm. Have found buses not that reliable on times, fine for way back but you would have to be careful on way there.
We didn't apply for the boys school for my son as its too far the other way.

How did you get two different scores by taking one CEM exam? My DD took the exam at Woodford and got 127.14 but I don't know what is her score for Chelmsford. How can I find it?mumchin wrote:hi DD ended up with good score for CEM
Chelmsford 125.1 Outside catchment
Woodford: 126.61 In the catchment.
I know chelmsford ranked higher in league table and better but the travel looks pretty bad (almost 1.5hrs journey) whereas woodford might not be the best but it is around 30 mins journey. so inclined to take woodford for my DD.
What are your thoughts?

You should have had a letter from CCHS, the website also says contact them from 17th Oct if you haven't received it. My DD also has 2 results. The cohorts of kids has an impact on the score hence why it is different.yleeofgod wrote:How did you get two different scores by taking one CEM exam? Currently in the same boat as you with the 2 schools.

I've realised that we didn't register her to Chelmsford. But I registered to Redbridge only for CEM test. Can I still apply Chelmsford when I make the application to the local council?shamim akhtar wrote:You should have had a letter from CCHS, the website also says contact them from 17th Oct if you haven't received it. Big thank you to Bananas. Your post has really helped me to make a decision between two schools.Bananas wrote:We are quite close to Woodford, husband drops her off in the morning by car and she gets the bus back. You can, but I would think that you are unlikely to get a place. You could try ringing CCHS if they are open today, to see whether it would-be possible to have your raw score incorporated somehow as a late application after March 1st.yleeofgod wrote: ]
