If the address moved to is in common catchment even if their application was re-classified as late as they moved after deadline for moving they should now be top of waiting list and offered a place in a couple of weeks or so. Though could just be an error has been made. Either way Redbridge Admissions should resolve this within the month and maybe as quick as a few days if error has occurred.
Thank you for your time and advice Bananas.

Please can someone clarify- do children living in Redbridge borough get priority when places are allocated for national offer day or are the offers made according to the ranking of the scores who live within the catchment area?

My understanding is - it doesn't matter which borough you are from as long as you live within the catchment area, you will be considered based on your merit eg score

How school waiting lists work

If your child has been offered a school place low on your list of preferred schools, they will remain on the waiting lists for all higher preference schools you have chosen.

If you have received an offer for a school place and you still wish to be considered for a school that you ranked lower on your list of schools, you will need to submit a new In year application form showing the new preference order of all your schools.

Rank the school higher than the school you have been offered, and rank the school that you still wish to be considered for as a higher preference.  When a school place is offered, all schools listed lower than the one offered are automatically withdrawn.

(Assuming that your home LA is Redbridge? It may be different for Waltham Forest or any of the other areas, small bits of which were included in the Common Catchment Area to keep the schools on the right side of a particular piece of Admissions law).

Paragraph 1.14 of tje Admissions Code states:

Catchment Areas
1.14 Catchment areas must be designed so that they are reasonable and clearly defined23. Catchment areas do not prevent parents who live outside the catchment of a particular school from expressing a preference for the school.

Footnote 23 includes, R v Greenwich London Borough Council, ex parte John Ball Primary School (1989) 88 LGR
589 [1990] Fam Law 469 held that pupils should not be discriminated against in relation to
admission to the school simply because they reside outside the local authority area in which the
school is situated...

Priority for the Redbridge grammars is given to those living in the Common Catchment Area, which is Redbridge, Waltham Forest, plus small ares of neighbouring authorities - the map is on the Redbridge website.

Anyone in catchment is offered based on ranking of their scores - only time distance comes into it is when you get identical scores to 2dp so we had 3 at my DDs score and it goes closest to furthest. So if 3 got 109.78 they would be on distance from school assuming all in catchment and preferred or highest offered school. So where you are in catchment makes very little difference.
