Could someone recommend a good tutor for 11+ for Altrincham Grammar Boys esp for English/VR. We recently moved to UK and live in Greater Manchester area. It is all very new for us and are getting stressed. This forum has been really very helpful.. If anyone knows any good tutors - one to one or for a small group , please e mail - pm

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' posts seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members (check carefully the date of joining and number of posts) who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

Hello maanav,

My DS recently( last sept) attempted the AGBS exam, and we are out of catchment.

The best way is to make sure the exam format- AGBS is revewing the types of exam- as in taking out NVR, and inserting english, before looking for the tutor. But the types of exam, is not confirmed yet, but only in draft. Make sure the tutor that you employ knows this....as NVR might just show its head.

I cant recommend a tutor, as i am not in your area. But the place to ask would be local friends and parents of ther children attempting this exam in your area. Pls feel free to PM me if you need any tips or help. Trafford forum is very active forum  you might want to read so,e threads there for help. You will certainly find aloqt of info.

Good luck... And see u around
