Hi, I saw a marked improvement when my son began using the CGP Cem cloze book.

+1 for CGP.

We have used CGP 10 min tests for Verbal Reasoning, Cloze, Letts 10 mins cloze and found them helpful.

I also have FPTP cloze book but DD finds them very hard and hence kept them aside for now. Possibly will give another try nearer to the exam.

My daughter also struggles with close exercises. She seems to do ok when words are supplied to fill in the blanks but really struggles to fill in when there are missing letters from words presented. Do all CEM tests come with these (we're Gloucestershire)? Any there different types of close and if so which type is this? And any suggestions what to practice? Thanks

There are three different types of Cloze: Multiple choice, Word bank and Missing Letter.

Missing Letter is by far the hardest so is most likely to be used as it really challenges the students. You have to work out the word and spell it correctly.

Multiple Choice is the easiest. All formats are covered by CGP and FPTP. DG

DG are the initials of Daogroupie, the person who just posted. In the same way that people may refer to me as KCG because kenyancowgirl takes a while to type!
