Improving Vocabulary for CEM 11+
Our daughter will be sitting Bucks 11+ this Sept 17. We are using VR CGP practice books together with 10 min tests. We have also made vocabulary cards and have started to use most days for around 15-20 mins. Also doing paired reading and discussing new words and have google or a dictionary handy.
Our daughter is still struggling with antonyms, synonyms and meanings of words so Verbal Reasonings questions are very difficult. I am looking for your advice on any methods to help improve this area. Thank you

Re: Improving Vocabulary for CEM 11+
Try incorporating the words in your daily communication with each other. The words need to be understood, not learnt. All the words have simpler alternatives. Try to use them instead of the simply alternatives. DG

Hi
We've taken to games:
How many different expressions can we come up for a word eg love - adore, cherish etc that we play around the table, in the car etc
A matching pairs game with synonyms & antonyms
Compound word games with parts to match or split up
Crosswords, banagrams, scrabble.
It's made it a bit more fun that just learning words on flashcards!
Good luck!
