My dd will be sitting the Wirral CEM 11+ and I would like to get my head around it all and buy all the appropriate books before she starts
My older Dd sat the old Wirral 11+ a few years ago but I literally have no idea what's involved with the new CEM 11+
So where do i start, what is covered in the CEM 11+ and which books are best to buy
Thanks for any help and advise x

Make a start with the CGP CEM ten minute tests.

They are very portable and you can keep them in the car and use them in spare minutes.

You can get them next day delivery in the forum shop. DG

With CEM you can't really revise for it, you just have to do it and accept that scores will be very low to start with.

But each time they will get better. DG

Thanks for the list of books. Can I ask you what scores he was getting and when you introduced 10-11 books ?

We have just started doing these 10 minute tests. My daughter got 7 and 8 for the first comprehensions and 11 and 15 for the non verbal reasoning. She is taking 10 minutes each time.

Thanks for the information.

I hadnt started timing her until the weekend. On one test she only completed about 6 out of 23 aim the time allocated and the other she lost concentration after 5 mins and started missing out thinking they will take too long.. tutor is saying not to worry about times but this is worrying me.. or will this come over the next. 8 months

Her accuracy is there but time is slow

The whole of CEM is based on timings.

It is not can you do it, it is can you do it in the time?

You must do CEM timed. I am amazed your tutor says "not to worry about timings"

The only way to learn how to cope with CEM is to do it timed. She has to adjust to it and she will get better, but not if she does not learn to cope with the timing.

The students who do well in CEM are the ones that learn the speed required.

I used to be able to do 100 VR questions in 22 minutes because I used to do the papers with my dds and then we would mark each others.

That is completely lost now, it was a speed built up from constantly doing it.
