QE Boys - House Search
which London areas would be most suitable for a direct commute into QE boys ,as in just 1 bus ride away (Preferably London buses).
Re: QE Boys - House Search
It would help if you told us more about where you live now, where you work, what other dc you have and where they go to school , what your budget is and how long a journey you consider to be acceptable. What will be your Plan B if ds doesn't get into QE ?
I assume you have studied google maps and discovered Right Move?

Re: QE Boys - House Search
Barnet is a very big residential area so there are places you could live where your ds could walk to school, although many of those houses would be very expensive.
New Barnet and East Barnet are a bit more affordable and there are plenty of buses that go up to Barnet high Street and it's a pretty easy walk from there.
Finchley and Whetstone areas are also expensive but buses go up the High road from there. Lots of boys also come into High Barnet tube station and then either walk or get on a bus. That gives you a bit more scope (eg as far as East Finchley).
If cost is more of a concern (and everywhere in that area is very pricey) it would be worth looking in Borehamwood as buses are quite straightforward from there too. Anywhere on the 84 bus route is only one one bus away from the high street but you have to pay for those buses which might not be sensible.

Also, have a look along Mays Lane and the small offshoot roads from there. Our old house was on one of these side roads and your son could conceivably walk (albeit around 20 mins depending on the particular road) to QE boys from there. They're very reasonable compared to Arkley, Finchley, Whetstone, Totteridge etc. As loobylou suggests, Borehamwood is very reasonable too
Re: QE Boys - House Search
Thanks for your responses. We are currently based in Hampshire ,so we would have move from Hampshire ,so would prefer near to the school. I have looked around in Edgware ,Mill Hill and Stanmore but not sure if there are direct London buses from each of the location. I am fine if its just 1 bus ride away would probably not want my DS to change buses.

Do you have a Y5 or a Y6 ds?
Has your ds sat QE or are you preparing for the exam in September? DG

TTL journey planner is very easy to use. Put the school in as destination and then put in some roads in the areas you've visited as start points. You can choose "fewest changes" as an option and you'll get a good idea about journey times.

Hatch End, Stanmore, Harrow all have direct buses to the school. You can also find private transport (e.g. mini bus or taxi share)

The OP Londonboy has not logged in for over five weeks so perhaps has decided against it. DG
