DG, how far away from the school is the 231 that didn't get in? Is there a chance the cut-off could still be 231?Daogroupie wrote:I think we can conclude that 232/233 was the last mark to get in.

Yes. it is possible that there are some quite local who got in on 231. The one that did not is Harrow area. DG

Just called the school to find out the lowest mark allocated yesterday. Unfortunately Admissions officer only works till 1pm and has left for the day.
If we still don't know the lowest score by tomorrow, i'll call again between 9am-1pm

Based on QE's track record, they may not divulge that information without an FOI request
Re: QE Boys results Historic marks background info
We also got letter from QE with indicative waiting list position as 2 (score - 231).
Can anyone advise how the waiting list works? Does school manages allocation from waiting list? Or is it Barnet council ?
(We are not living in Barnet at the moment but intend to move closer to school if our son gets a place there)

So you are Number Two on Mark 231 and you are not in the Borough of Barnet and I know of Number Four that is thirty miles away.
This means that those on 231 that were closer did get a place.
So the cut off score this year was 231 and I would estimate that there are only a few 231s that did not get in as thirty miles away was number four. How many would there be on 231 further away than thirty miles? One or two maybe?
This means they will get to 230 very quickly and all those nearby on 230 should get a space as soon as parents start to turn places down.
Crisscross in Isleworth West London is Waiting list place 31 on 229.
That leaves 27 waiting list places between a mark 231 thirty miles away and a 229 maybe 15 miles away.
So if we assume Place 4 was the last but two 231 and 18 boys on mark 230 and then 6 229s ahead of criss cross.
Sizzler it would be very helpful to know your waiting list number for 230 in Finchley. DG

Sorry Guest 55, I misunderstood.
I know think waiting list will eventually crawl towards 228 by September, though not all of them.

Re: QE Boys results Historic marks background info
Thank you. So we know that 230 has to have started by position 7.
That leaves us with at a max of 6 231s but probably more likely 4 as will there really be another two more than thirty miles away?
Let's assume that 230 starts on position 5. Then we could have around 20 230s and then around 6 229s that are closer than Isleworth.
Now we need to know what is the highest 228 waiting list number is?
In terms of those on 228 and 227, the last time the mark started on 231 was in 2013 and it then went down to 227. As we know we only have a max of 6 231s on the list could it perhaps reach 226 this time? DG

DS is on WL no 58, score 226. If that helps, I m sure plenty of parents will benefit the analysis being done by dg. I see bleak chances for my DS but we r happy with our second choice.
