I have edited this post to reflect the updated information given out by QE to parents and students on the tours following the results.

QE added two more boys to each Y7 class starting September 2017 increasing the total from 180 to 192. This was a one off as only some of their classrooms have enough room for 32 boys. The governors will meet to decide if they can offer 192 places again this year. If they do then I would say that 222 upwards is in with a chance and should put QE first if it is their top choice school. 224 was the lowest score to get a place this year.

The historic ranking information for QE boys for the past five years is as follows:

The Year given is the year of entry into the school not the year of the test

Year numbers applying allocation day lowest mark lowest mark September

2018 2400

2017 2233 231 224 (last waiting list position 79)

2016 2203 229 226

2015 1946 226 222

2014 1985 227 223

2013 1631 231 227

As you can see 231 and above has always got a place every year for the past five years on allocation day in March and 227 and above has always got a place by September.

So 227 and above has previously always been enough for a place. However the rise and rise of QE may result in a higher score to get in this year.

The email will contain your total standardised score and a breakdown score between the Maths and the English paper.

If your score totals 220 and above you will be invited to sign up for a working day tour of the school. These slots will go fast so sign up today if you are interested. No extra tours will be added once the tours available are full. Go to the website to sign up.

Please do not post asking if your score will be enough to get in. Read the figures above.

240s and above is a done deal. The score to get in on allocation day is not going to suddenly jump ten marks.

235 and above is reasonably secure.

231 to 234 may be the waiting list this year. QE has overtaken all other schools in the world in percentage of Cambridge offers, 27 in 2017, beating Westminster, Eton etc and their GCSE and A levels results are top two in the country. 27 boys went to read Medicine this year. Is there any school in the country who can top that figure? These figures will result in the continued rise of QE. A relative of mine spent 20k a year for seven years at a top private school trying to get his ds into Medicine. His Y13 A level result lost him the place. He then repeated Y13 at another top private crammer sixth form school in London but still could not get in, His chances of success would have been far greater and his costs would have been a lot lower if he had just spent his money on a good tutor for QE.

Given increased success this year I think we can expect the last score to get in to probably go up a couple of marks from last year. DG

Wow!

Thanks!

I only just finished the email in time,

Congratulations to your ds. This score would have got you in every year for the past five years so hope it will this year. Get on the website and book your place on the tour. DG

I don't find any mention of the tour on the email or the website. Perhaps details will follow later.

I have several scores already, much lower than last year especially Maths. It must have been a tough paper.

This could well mean the last score to get in on allocation day will go down this year. Too early to say. We need some more scores. DG

Surprised about the tours.

Perhaps they feel demand is so great they do not need to do them anymore.

It is a shame but it is a drain on the school as they are run by senior management. DG

220 for us (111 English, 109 Maths), so almost certainly no for us.

Sorry to hear that Rhinoo. I think the Maths must have been very tough this year. All but one of the scores I know so far have come in with a higher English score than Maths score. DG

Congratulations to all who have cleared their QE exams.
My kid cleared - he got 256. Hoping that this will be sufficient for getting into.

Wow! That's rather thrown my day. DS got 239 - 128 for English and 111 for Maths. Really pleased for him but won't make up our minds on first choice until we get DAO results.
