Let's take example

Child A - Rank is 150 - Situation: HBS is not going to give admission on 1st March

Scenario 1 : LEA do not contact them for that Child - that means HBS knows that child got admission for her higher preference rank school
Scenario 2 : LEA contact HBS for admission - HBS can not give admission so they reject it and put that child on waitlist.
I'm not at all sure about the [b wrote: for whom Henrietta Barnett is their highest preference school,
No, the school (or the school's local authority, where said school is its own admissions authority but has bought into the LEA's full admissions service) receives the names of all girls whose parents have named that school somewhere on their CAF. The school ranks those girls according to its admissions criteria.

The Admissions Code Section 1.9 (c) makes it illegal for the school to give priority to where a given applicant ranked it on their CAF. In practice, this means that the school will not be given this information in the first place.

Therefore, the school cannot differentiate between girls who put HBS first on their CAF, but failed to get a place because they were not high enough up on the school's ranked list of applicants and girls who put HBS second but were allocated their third, fourth, fifth preference. Or third, but were allocated their fourth or lower preference. Or...etc.

All the school knows is, Girl X appeared on the list of girls asking for a place, but didn't appear on the list of girls to whom their home LEAs have allocated a place.

Hbs allocates only on rank and their score goes to two decimal points.

They do not allocate on locality, they are a non catchment school.

They always send a reminder email at this time of year as they know that many of their Band A girls will be holding a whole bunch of private school offers.

The session with dds in the same and near post codes is new and a welcome introduction. So it contacting the first 25% of the waiting list and giving them their exact rank on the waiting list. That will be very helpful.

Last year 185 dds were given Band A and there are still dds on the waiting list from last year who were not offered a place. But there will be quite a lot of Band A who will go elsewhere. DG
