So why are they allowing it? As a parent I would be furious if students were allowed to smoke and drink and to try to justify it as 'an old tradition' does not make it acceptable.

Actually i stand corrected the cigars and drinks are done in the local pubs
Boys letting of steam of 7 years and the famous cull
As for smoking being illegal in schools thats fine but i am sure the police have more important things to do then check every bike shed in every school as i imagine the Rspca with a couple of chickens loose

Their PSHE teaching about the dangers of tobacco and alcohol clearly needs further work ...
Smoking in schools is easily discovered these days - mistreating animals is no joke either.
