Latymer sends email confirming the time for Tuesday 14th Sep

Post by Daogroupie »

Latymer has sent confirmation email today to all those who applied for the alternative date of Tuesday 14th Sept because of a clash.

So far I am only aware of one time 930am.

Latymer have made it clear this is the last date they will be offering.

Check junk email if you have not received the email. DG

Just to add that the school has said that there were approximately 2,500 applicants this year.

Thank you. That is a lot less than last year.

Interesting that they needed 4 dates for 2500 applicants when QE can manage it in two with more and HBS managed it in three with more. DG

Ah, was it? I think for 19/20 intake it was about 2,200 applicants. But I don’t know for 2021/22.

Good luck to those taking the final sitting at Latymer tomorrow.

Anyone know when the round 1 results might come out?
For some reason I have 24th Sept in my mind but I may have imagined that!?

I think last year it was 1 or 2 October.

What are the 'round 1' results? Is that the school notifying those who ranked high enough to be offered a place? Or does everyone get notified of their outcome?

How many rounds are there?

I'm not that familiar with the process (obviously!), so appreciate any insight. Thank you!

Maths & VR papers for all 2500 candidates are marked by computer.
The scores are age standardised and put in rank order.
The top 650 “pass” round 1 and go on to get their English papers marked.
Those not in the top 650 will not be in the running for a place at the school.
Letters come out to let people know if they’ve made it through to the next stage/round 2 (or not).
There’s more waiting for them - 2-3 weeks in past years.

Once the English is marked the scores are combined and put into rank order.
The top 650 will contain about 300 out of catchment kids.
I can’t remember how the ranks are sent to people but I think candidates are told what their overall rank was, as well as the rank once out of catchment have been taken out of the list. You then decide where to put the school on your CAF/Eadmissions form before 31 Oct. Then we all wait for National Offers day in March/April next year to find out about offers and waiting lists

Applicants under some criteria (pupil premium / LAC / PLAC ) will have their English paper marked in order to rank them, if they are in the top 900 from the first round. This also applies to those with the school named on their EHCP.

The lowest total score to secure a place in the 2nd round last year was 216, that is a combined score from VR and Maths.

Rank 659 with a total score of 215 did not get a place in the second round but Rank 615 with 216 did.

You will be sent your rank and the score from the two subjects.

At least one DC [edited by moderator] I know of got 141 141 and was ranked 1st.
