The round one result will arrive by email on Friday 28th September.

It will be an email with the score from the maths paper and the score from the English paper and a total score to two decimal points.

It will also contain the score of the last applicant to get a place in the second round and will contain the information as to if you are in the second round.

You can also send a cheque to CEM and get your raw score.

The second round for the 300 girls who got through will be on Wednesday 3rd October.

This does clash with the SW Herts back up date but that is not until 4pm so hopefully anyone needs to do both will be able to manage it. DG

Sorry you are right. I will edit my post.

It is the second round that is the 3rd October not the result.

Have HBS changed their policy of not sharing scores with parents of prospective students?

This is the e-mail I received for my DD last year
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of xxxxxxx,

Candidate Number: xxxxxxxxxx

Thank you very much for your interest in a place at The Henrietta Barnett School. We hope that you daughter’s experience of sitting the entrance test was not too stressful for her.

The Part One Tests in Verbal and Numerical Reasoning have now been assessed and standardised by Durham University. We are pleased to tell you that your daughter's score places her in the top 300 candidates.

We are therefore pleased to invite her to sit the Round Two Entrance Test on Monday 2nd October at 1.15pm. The Test will consist of two question papers in English (60 minutes) and Mathematics (50 minutes).

Registration on the day of the test
You will receive an email by the end of this week with a registration card and venue information for your daughter. Please note that the Round Two test will take place in various halls at the School.

Arrival and drop-off
When you arrive at the school, please take your daughter to the Central Square Entrance. On arrival you will be asked to queue on a certain side of the school depending on your daughter’s test venue.

Pick up and Departure
You should collect your daughter at 3:50pm from the Bigwood Road Entrance. There will be staff there to assist in your daughter’s collection and we would ask that you remain on the road rather than coming to the School Entrance.

Travel
The School is a 15 minute walk from Golders Green Underground Station (Northern Line: Edgware Branch) and serviced by the 631 and H2 bus. It is a 10 minute walk from Market Place, serviced by the 102 Bus Route and a 15 minute walk from Temple Fortune with the 13 and 460 bus routes.

If you plan to use a car to travel, please note that parking is limited and the nearby roads already congested. When parking please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways. The local police will be on duty to help manage the traffic and parking. Please do leave plenty of time anticipating traffic on route to the school. Please note that if you are late and the Test has already started we may not be able to accommodate your daughter. There is only one sitting on the day of the Round Two Exam.

Practical Arrangements
Please ensure your daughter wears comfortable clothes. She should bring the following in a see-through plastic bag:
1. Several sharpened HB pencils (soft lead) and a good quality eraser and ruler.
2. A drink and a biscuit should she wish to have a snack with her. Please note there is only a very short
interval between the Maths and English papers.

Please be aware that the school runs a normal working day so unfortunately we do not have any place for parents to wait during the tests, or for girls to wait if they arrive early. There is a café and a bakery at the end of Northway, and both Temple Fortune and Golders Green High Streets are approx. 10-15 minutes’ walk from the school.

Illness
If your daughter is unable to attend the tests due to illness, you must email admissions@hbschool.org.uk by 10am on Monday 2nd October. She will be invited to sit the tests on Friday 6th October. A doctor’s certificate, dated 2nd October, will be required to confirm that illness was the reason for non-attendance. This should be brought in on the supplementary date. There is no provision for your daughter to take the entrance test at another venue or on a different date for any other reason.

Outcome of the Test
Following marking and standardisation we will be in contact with all candidates who sit the Round 2 Tests ahead of the CAF deadline on 31st October.

Kind regards,
xxxxxxxxxxx

Because you were one of the 300 who passed the First round and got a place in Round Two.

The other 2400 who did not get a place in Round Two were able to ask for their breakdown which comes very quickly.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of parents do actually ask for the breakdown and which don't bother.

It was interesting to see about the several sharpened pencils. Is that what it said for Round One as well? DG

I would not ask for breakdown, if it is not provided. For what? It would be interesting to see the breakdown if you can work on it and improve (e.g. - mock). But the test in one-in-life chance.
But definitely breakdown's statistics would be interesting for tutors.

It is not provided.

It just enables you to see if it was the Maths or the English that was the weaker score and also see how far off you were from the final score to be in the top 300.

If that does not interest you then no point in applying for the score. DG
