Re: Second Round Latymer results now out October 2018
DS got rank 348. His brother is already at Latymer so I called the school and found out that 200 OC children were in the top 650 and had their English marked so are included in the latest rankings. Did OC children have their English marked last year? And can one of you data geniuses make sense of this for the rest of us and our prospects?
Re: Second Round Latymer results now out October 2018
Received result email that my DS is in first 192 rank.

Based on previous years the 200 OOC kids will not be spread evenly throughout the 650, but weighted more in top half. Therefore I would think a very good chance of being in top 250 IC kids. If at least a third of of the 192 IC go elsewhere (QEB, DAO, private), which again is highly possible, I would think your DS's chances are good. Sorry, I know it is a lot of ifs, but I have thought endlessly about these number scenarios over the last weeks. I honestly would have taken 348 if offered yesterday (DS is in on music).Kipperfish wrote:DS got rank 348. Good luck.

Anyone outside the 192 rank have been given their ranking and mark breakdown which makes life a lot easier for parents and the process much more transparent.

Congratulations all.
Does anyone know if the VR and Maths marks can be compared with the children not in the 650? Or is the standardisation done again? Thanks

Previous 5 years offers data has been given with the email.
year offer day rank last rank
2014 270 301
2015 269 312
2016 295 330
2017 390 484 (this was an odd year and pupils were invited to apply later as well)
2018 266 281
Congratulations to everyone who has got letter 1
Well Done to everyone who has made it to the top 650 as getting that far was also a great achievement.

Because they were restandardised against the top 650 the standardised results would be different they are being compared to a different set of scores. Maybe someone else can explain this better?

We are in the same position. DS scored 300. He has scored high enough to get a place at Ilford County High but our preference is Latymer. Assuming that 100 OOC are above DS and about 50 kids apply to QE or DAO who are in the 192, would we have a chance of getting in or am I clutching at straws?Kipperfish wrote:DS got rank 348. Also, if we put Latymer 1st of the CAF and he gets on the wait list, will he get a definite place at Ilford as he has scored high enough?
Advise would be appreciated.
