MTS v St Albans V UCS

Post by Emma6362 »

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone got what they wanted today.

I also wanted to know thoughts on MTS v St Albans V UCS as my DS has offers at each, we love them all, they are just terrific and feel very humbled that they want him. However, we have no preference - any inside info very much appreciated!

Distance is no problem, there are coach services or a bus route so that doesn't necessarily alter decisions.

Thanks again

It's very hard for strangers on the internet to say what would be best for your son. What type of child is he, what does he enjoy? Is he sporty/arty/outdoorsy? Did he have a preference when he looked round?

My son would fit any of them just wanted to know which might be better academically but also socially and for pastoral care. Guess it’s a tough decision to make!

MTS and St Albans are quite far away from each other so you must be closer to one of them.

50% of St Albans boys live in St Albans so it is a very local school.

The results are great and the staff are very supportive.

We know one of the Heads of Department and they certainly go the extra mile for their students.

I like the City location and the fact that the school is very much part of the city and the sports and music is very strong,

All the boys I know there are really happy

MTS is also very supportive. I love their handwritten card after interviews to the students which clearly reflects the strength of pastoral care.

Wonderful grounds, sport very strong and easy to get to via tube.

I don't know UCS at all or anyone there so can't comment.

You can't go wrong with any of these schools so it is very much personal choice.

Go to the offer days and talk to the boys. DG

Thank you

Didn’t see an offer day for St Albans just the matriculation evening, did I miss something?

That is a real shame if there is not one. DG
