The point DG is making is that the HBS paper is structured like a CEM paper - short sections for each subject.

It would certainly sort the superselective from the also rans, seeing how far they could get in the hour, though?

So should I assume that a child who receives pupil premium just have to focus only on English and non verbal to get selected for HBS leaving maths completely? As if selected in top 300 , they will be allocated a space regardless of their results in second round of the test which includes maths ?

That is, of course, assuming that the top 300 doesn't include many more than a total of (?)104 candidates eligible for PP or naming the school on an EHCP. (But yes, that would be an unlikely scenario).

It is English, VR and NVR and candidates need to be in the top ten percent to go through to round two. DG

It is one hour, one paper containing comprehension, vr and nvr.

Three formats is not unusual. Most CEM papers include three formats. DG

Just to be double sure, you did not mention SPAG. So is it only Comprehension when it comes to English ?

1. English Comprehension (no SPAG)
2. NVR
3. VR

SPAG is definite part of KS2 curriculum and GL English.

But its difficult to say if it can be fit into 20-25 mins part (of overall 60-70 minute test).

Perhaps, last year parents can provide some details but it can change year to year.
