DAO Allocations. Please post results here

Congratulations.

DAO was over PAN again this year.

The 22 closest is not impacted by going over PAN as they allocate them first.

The reason it only reached the first place on the waiting list in 2017 and 2019 is that in both years only one of the 22 closest turned down the place in both of those years.

This year it has reached you on 2nd because two applicants in the same criteria as you (the 22 applicants closest to the school) turned the place down.

They might well be going elsewhere such as HBS or QE and they might have been on the waiting list for either of those schools and just got offered a place.

The QE boys waiting list went down to 18th place today so it probably started moving yesterday.

So two families got happy news in Potters Bar from DAO yesterday.

The academic rankings reached another local family. DG

I am so glad for you Amgmum!

Anybody has heard anything about the music waiting list? My DD's chances are even lower than Amgmum's were, but we'll keep hoping...

This year it has reached you on 2nd because two applicants turned the place down.

I knew that one was going to Habs, who had a distance place. What I am saying is that 2 children had better offers somewhere else, most probably independent schools. We were very fortunate.

Thank you. That is very interesting that a student within a few hundred metres of DAO would choose to take on a twice daily 50 minute coach to Habs for seven years instead.

Not a better offer in my opinion. I know a lot of students at HABS who applied to DAO, Latymer, HBS or QE but were not able to reach the score required for a place so applied to HABS instead.

However it is great that a place was freed up for those who are really interested in the school. DG

Academic Places have been offered up to and including ranked position number 118.
Music Places have been offered up to and including ranked position number 13.
Distance Criterion 2– the furthest home-school distance we have been able to allocate a place to is 403.95 metres from the address point for the school.

The next stage of movement will be advised by the Local Authority the week commencing 27th April and any change will be updated on the website.

I am hopeful of more movement. I have a good friend in the top five and another in the top ten. The one in the top five is currently holding a QE place so if he gets DAO he will release that and make another ds very happy. DG

Is there any news on movement of waiting list? Hoping it has moved and some dc's are happy now.

There has been no movement at all on the waiting list.

The last rank to get in has remained 118.

There has only been one movement of just two places.

QE boys on the other hand is on WL number 48.

There is an online Y7 transition event next week so this may trigger parents who are holding onto places they do not intend to use to release them.
