QE BOYS confirms 15th/16th September as the two dates.

Post by Daogroupie »

QE boys has sent an email to all those registered for the test confirming that 15th and 16th September will be the two dates used this year.

Much better than last year when they had four dates with a weekend in between giving those sitting on the later dates max time to find out what the comprehension was.

Actual date and time allocation will not be sent out until September. DG

Few tips :
If your DS's is morning session, then you need to be in the school by 8:30 (based on last year schedule, not sure for this year). Likely it will be an early day for your DS. So, start practicing to go bed early and wake up early until the day. Every evening a long walk or bath or swim plus wake up early morning next day would help them go sleep fast and will set the routine. It was struggle for first few days then we settled and that worked well on the assessment day. After school open in Sept, parent can do a/two mock visit and workout times from their place to school. (traffic in Aug and Sept are not same.)

Going toilet before and in the break is best practice. If DS need to go in the middle of the assessment(urge can build up quickly if just before and break sessions are not utilised), their clock will not be paused.

Good to practice mock exams in group. If you live faraway, can set up remote groups.

Keep remind your child not to discuss the Math and English papers with their school friends until end of December. Due to chain of isolations, the school may be forced to postpone the assessment even beyond Sept.

Last year Math top mark was 141 and next highest mark was around 136/7. English marks were linear comparing to Math.

There were 55 boys who scored 141 in Maths but only 5 who scored 141 in English.

Biggest problem was over confidence during the Maths paper.

The first few questions were straightforward so candidates speeded up assuming the whole paper would be easier.

Many boys came out and told their parents they would be scoring 100% in the Maths but had been tricked and ended up with very poor scores in that paper and higher scores in the English.

Just because a few earlier questions are easier this does not mean that the whole paper will be like that. DG
