I doubt as the School confirmed no one in the WL has been informed yet as they have not received the response from all the councils yet to compile and consolidate before sorting the WL to be informed.

Truewarrior (Stanmore) with 235 at W/L position 3 and SchoolAdmission (Harrow, 7.5 miles) with 235 at 5 do seem to tie up, though they sit oddly with DG's info.
At the start of the thread, we had a 235 in Herts, 4.6 miles from the school, with an offer.

Stanmore is 5-6 miles from the school depending on where you live.
So I think DG's 4th on the WL is not as close to the school as they think!

I'm not sure that I understand the statement that QE don't allocate new W/L positions. If someone new joins the waiting list, they must be fitted in in oversubscription criteria order - they don't automatically go to the bottom of the list unless, of course, they genuinely do live the furthest away from the school within the lowest score on the list. So if e.g. the first 10 boys on the list on a given day all have a score of 235, ranked on distance, and two late applicants / changes of preference are added, one with a score of 240 and another closer to the school than the current third nearest on 235, then all the boys are pushed down one place by the boy with 240 joining and all the boys further away than the new 235 (and those on lower scores) are pushed another place down by him. You wouldn't stay 'number x on the waiting list', if a new person joins the list who is ranked above you. Similarly, if someone above you on the list withdraws or is offered a place, you move up the list.

QE may like to think of itself as really special, but it still has to comply with the Admissions Code, just like any other state school.

Irrespective of distance and preference. All the boys who scored enough have already received the offer.

Out of the the boys who are offered, when someone declines the offer then that position is filled with the WL#1 unless someone down the waiting list moved closer to the school and scored same as WL#1.

Anyone scored enough is already offered and if they decline the offer, they don't have the option to change the preference or join the waiting list later.

there is the option of changing preferences to a lower listed school or to make an application to be on the waiting list if they have not previously listed it - these could be boys who put somewhere else higher up the list and have now got the place but having scored enough to get into QE are having second thoughts about their CAF list

No, that's not the case. A boy can have the QEB highest score, but might have qualified for a higher preference school in which case that is what they will have been given. Only those boys with a high enough score AND whose preferences were either QEB 1st choice OR who have not qualified for any of their higher choices will have received offers. Those who had qualified for a higher placed school, will have been given that school, and have no QEB offer regardless of whether they scored high enough for a place.
