Yes, now that the distance rules have been tightened up and you have to have been living there for 3 years and not own a house within 60 miles
, the numbers moving in has dropped dramatically. My dd1 had 3 in her class return to their "real homes" within a few weeks of the start of term. DG

DC being taught to cheat the system. I guess they're technically following the rules so perhaps it's not cheating perse. The schools need to review their rules and act swiftly.

So the family has to move house by Y3 at the latest? Is that checked by the school? And if one of the 22 is found not to have followed the rules, the place goes to the next child on the waiting list for distance places?

I wonder if the Kings Langley area gives a better chance of getting into a selective school. Watford Grammars and Parmiter's I think. Compared to just DAO which will be Potters Bar and Welwyn Garden City ?

This is not strictly true. You only have to have been living in the catchment area for over 3 years if you had not sold your previous residential property. If you buy a property within the catchment area and sold all your other residential properties then there is no time restriction as to how long you've lived in the area.

Academic waiting list moves 5 ranks to 107

Post by Daogroupie »

Yippee!!!

The DAO waiting has moved 5 ranks to and including rank 107.

Music has moved 1 place to and including rank 16.

Last distance place has moved from 454.85 to 459.17.

At last.

That was a very long wait for the first movement. 29 days.
