Ranking is from the academic or music tests - typically children in the top ~15 get in based on music tests while children in the top ~100 get in based on academic tests. For those, all children are more or less treated equally, regardless of distance as long as they fall within the priority area (
https://damealiceowens.herts.sch.uk/admissions/local-priority-areas/). Technically, I believe if two children scored the same in the academic tests, the one closer to the school would be given priority.
