I'm assuming that they had the sense not to pay anything to anyone, but if they did, they should report it to the ActionFraud site.

Yes, they have reported it to the school and alsoon the website.

I think many schools ask parents if they would be willing to provide financial support. It is not compulsory. I would suggest they clarify if the email is from the school or not.
