Nonsuch waiting list

Post by twickenhammum »

Another enquiry from a relative newcomer. My DD scored high and got 388. However, we live out of the catchment and she did not think that she would come in the top 50. Nonsuch wrote to us inviting her to go onto the waiting list - something that she is keen on... but i don't want her to be disappointed again. Does anyone know whathe cut off mark for the top 50 was. Any other tips? This forum is better than the school offices!

We are in the same situation, although score was a little lower. We only put Nonsuch third, but daughter has now decided that it might be a good idea.

Like Twickenhammum don't want DD (why can't i say daughter??) to get excited about it until I know the full picture. Rang the school but they wouldn't give out any info on scores.

Nonsuch waiting list

Post by veryhappydad »

My daughter got 420 in nonsuch exam. We are not in the catchment area. Since she got Tiffin and that was our 1st choice we will not get offer for Nonsuch. But I am interested to know what is the maximum mark one can get and what is the cut off mark for girls outside catchment area.

I would think that 420 is the maximum, without counting adjustments. So very well done!
Usually the adjust the score by a few points related to the age of the child, talking about a few points. My son got 1 or 2 extra point on the Wallington test for being born in December.

Congratulations, very happy dad - that is good news. I do not know outside catchment cut off. Incidentally, did your DD get an actual offer from Nonsuch? the problem we face with the waiting list is that if she is lucky enough to get an offer - do we really want to commute from Twickenham?

Well done to you both!

No, we got offer from Tiffin as that was our first choice.

Twickenham mum, we live in your neck of the woods and our son goes to Sutton. The journey is not bad and you'll find she will meet up with other girls from Nonsuch and the boys from Sutton on the train or the bus. Lots of the boys and girls commute via Wimbledon and Clapham Junction coming from Richmond, Kingston and Putney so she will not be on her own and she'll find that most of the socialising takes place in Wimbledon and Kingston at weekends.

Twickenham Mum: In answer to your first query, we know that the cut off for the first 50 in Wallington Girls was 372. I dont think the Nonsuch cut off will be very far off. Your daughter has got an excellent score of 388, so she would have surely been in the top 50. I am assuming she was not offered a place as it was not her first choice. I suggest you get her on the waiting list, and hope for the best.

Thank you vrm and everyone else who has contributed. I feel quite emotional having been really mature throughout the process. DD was very upset that didnt get first choice and when Nonsuch result came through, she was delighted. We are very nervous about the commutes but I have had some positive feedback on that
