Number of Applications to Secondary Schools in Hertfordshire
Just noticed this document on the Herts CC website.
http://www.hertsdirect.org/infobase/doc ... report0910
it gives a breakdown of applications in 2008 and 2009 for each Secondary School... it doesn't give a breakdown of how applications were successful.
Below gives, school name, 2009 applications, 2008 applications... sorry for the lousy layout.

Wow thanks for that Alison - it's really interesting. I'd got the impression (from chat not reliable sources!) that this was a bumper birth year, but it seems that applciations have fallen everywhere except a couple of extras to Kings Langley.
And actually - given how close we are in this part of the county to neighbouring boroughs - I'm surprised at how few OoC children were allocated places.

You are right Sressed But Survivor ...the figures have all increased... its the 2009 figures first and 2008 figures second... I know that the format is tricky to read, if anyone knows how to make it more readable let me know (or just go to the link for the full info).
Remembering our trouble with primary school places for my son I knew it was a high birth year and excepted numbers to be up on last year but not to the extent they have.
I expected Parmiters applications to increase by more than the Grammars due to the change in sibling rule... but even Queens had over 100 more applications this year.
Some other facts for the community schools in the Watford area... "table" shows PAN (published admission number, 2009 allocation and 2008 allocation).
Westfield, 210, 300, 240
Kings Langley, 180, 180, 180
Francis Combe, 210, 249, 279
Bushey Hall, 180, 279, 230
This confirms (to me) that the children in the SW corner of our area have suffered the most from the large number of applications as lots of children have been pushed into Westfield and Bushey Hall rather than Kings Langley and Francis Combe.
