Slough Grammar 11+ exam dates BROUGHT FORWARD
We received notification today that Slough have brought forward their exams this year (2009). Internal candidates will sit Saturday 19th September and out of area candidates on Saturday 26th September. I presume this is so that you can apply for the school on the CAF form that you have passed!

Yes, eldest daughter 6 months into year 7 at Slough and thoroughly enjoying it. It was a total life shock for the first three months, they seem to hit them really hard with homework. I was told this is because most year 7's regress after the year 6 SATs and they now cram 3 years of work into year 7&8 allowing 3 years for the GCSEs. But we are through the worst now and with high grades in homework and tests we know she is in the right place!
Just need DD2 to get in there (which is looking more difficult by the day!) At least I won't have to list 3 schools on the CAF not knowing whether she'll pass any. Hopefully the consortium will follow suit, isn't the deadline April to make changes for this year's exams?

Slough Grammar, always appear the most innovative and have proved this again!
I agree, it would be good news all round if the consortium, followed suit.
When is DD2 applying? Will it be for 2010 entry?
DS also got hit with a mountain load of homework in his first term, all appears to have become more manageable this term. Nice to know the reasoning behind it, though. Quite agree after a yr6 SATs, they do appear to regress

As you are able to list 3 schools only on the CAF this will make it slightly easier when it comes to decision time.... let's hope that the consortium do this as well.
Unfortunately the SGS website has been static for some time (They have been concentrating on their internal system).... let's hope they get it up-to-date soon.
Thanks for the early info wraysburymum..... I will keep it for the yearly info update on the regions..
