Hi aussiemum,

Sorry I am not able to offer any insight - we are appealing this year too, for a Slough consortium school but the appeal is not until the end of April.

I would like to wish you good luck, and please can you let us know how you get on?

Many thanks.

There is not much known about Slough appeals....so if you feel up to it afterwards please post you experience. I am aiming to try and go thru the board and bring together quotes from Slough Appeal experiences into one thread.

Apparently the format is roughly the same as the Bucks appeal... with a Panel of 3 or 4......the further away from the pass mark - the more conclusive your evidence of high ability must be. You are proving that the scores achieved by your dc, on the day, is not indicative of their ability.

It has been said that some appellants feel 'rushed'. In light of this I would ensure that you put forward your proof of ability and any mitigating circumstances in a concise manner, maybe even providing bullet points of your evidence in paper format for each panel member, the clerk and the Lea rep if present. This is so that when they are considering your case they will be reminded of your evidence.

Here is someone who had a 'Slough Grammar' appeal which is supposed to be very similar to the Consortium.

Chad,

Thanks - a thread for relevant information for just Slough appellants would be very useful, as we feel (I think) that we are in the dark here :( .

Another little question relevant to Slough appeals -
Does anyone know why some of the consortium appeals are before the 1st of March(allocations day) (like aussiemum's) and others like mine are well after?

Surely if they operate as a consortium, appeals should be handled in the same way?

Thanks

Thanks for your support LFH, will definately keep you updated.

Thanks also Chad for your advice.
Was definately thinking that some concise dot points would be the best
way forward, hopefully will keep my mind focused and stop me waffling,
as does seem from the link you attached that time will be of the essence.

Does seem strange after all the 100's of posts on the Bucks. appeals that
there is very limited info on the Slough consortium ones.
Maybe because they are just starting.

Will definately post after our one and give as much info as possible.

Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for that LFH.
Unfortunately allocated school not the best.
Considering independent for a year and then 12+ route.
Weighing it all up at this stage, what a nightmare.!

Thanks again for your kind thoughts

Aussiemum, Really sorry to hear that your appeal was not successful. I do know that Slough Grammar offer a 12plus route (I have known 2 children that have taken the exam in Year 8).

I am not sure on the consortium as they did (at one stage) say that if the 11+ had been taken, and the required score not met, then no other application could be made until 6th form.

Good luck with the decision making...
