Secondary Entry via a Points System
Was pondering over an alternative to the current system in Herts.
Would a points system work any better?
I would envisage points being awarded, based on a mix of factors. So for selective schools, points would be awarded for:
Overall, I would see the system favouring well rounded children from the local area, rather than children super-tutored in a single discipline.
Workable or a bad idea?

Re: Secondary Entry via a Points System
I don't know whether it would be a good idea, but it would be illegal. The schools are permitted (under section 100 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998), to continue with partial selection that existed before then, but only if the basis of selection does not change. This would be a major change.weatherilt wrote:Would a points system work any better?
