WHAT TO USE TO ENCOURAGE BETTER WRITING

Post by mog »

I am addict of this site even though neither of my children will sit the 11+. But the tips and resources are fantastic here. I need help. My eldest got 5A in writing but my youngest is stuck in the mud!! She has a fantastic imagination. But when she writes she uses minimal punctuation. She also is the world's worst speller. Currently in year 5 she is predicted a 4C but that is on a good day. I need to inspire her. What workbooks can I buy to motivate her. Or is there an excellent website just waiting for her?

In this section a few threads down - it's only a link to old KS2 papers but it gives mark schemes and examples we you can discuss with your child.
I am not an English expert but I do have a child who find this the hardest subject.

I am quite mad. I knew I had been on the link you recommended. However, I can see all the papers to look at but where do you find the examples of a child' work to study? If you wish to admit defeat with me please do. Sometimes I cannot see the wood for the trees! Any example of good writing (apart from her elder sisters!) would be good.
