Colchester County High School for Girls
Can anyone that already has a daughter at Colchester County High School for Girls tell me a bit about the school and has anyone got a daughter who is due to start in September?
I am interested in this topic as well. Somehow I feel strange that Colchester parents seemed not as active as those in Chelmsford on this forum. There are little comments about the schools in Colchester.
The four grammar schools in Colchester and Chemlsford are among the best states schools in the contry. When you choose school for your children, how much do you rely on the information of the Ofsted Report or the League Table? I would appreciate any comments on this matter.

Colchester County High School for Girls may do well in league tables, but there is much more to this school that meets the eye. It is not enough to judge by league tables. They could not care less about the welfare of their students, and some of the teachers are incapable. Not only is there a very clique-y atmosphere, but also students are put under a tremendous amount of pressure to get the grades the school wants. This whole atmosphere is very stressful, and there have been countless cases of eating disorders and self harm within students.
If you are considering sending your daughter here, you need to consider what you value more; good grades (which are perfectly achievable elsewhere) or her health and well-being.

colchester girls high
My daughter is in her second year at the girls high and is loving it the teachers are very good and there is no pressure at all, they DO care about the childs welfare and are always willing to advise if the pupil isnt sure of any work they are doing.
There is very little bullying it is dealt with straight away if it occurs,I can only speak for my daughter although she has 30 girls in her class they are all having a great time the only pressure is what they choose to put on there selves amongst the class who can beat who in the weeks test.
If you get the chance to send your daughters to this school then i would take it they will positivley thrive!

My daughter started Chelmsford County High in Sept and we were told horror stories about that as well which have proved to be completely untrue! She loves it and tells us every eveing about what her day was like (sometimes I wish she had an off button!!).GUESTCCHS wrote:my daughter started at cchs in september and is loving it. we had heard before she started about how much pressure was put on the girls, but this is not true. yes they gets homework but it is no different from any other school. i have a very happy child and we are happy parents.
