NFER questions other than the 21 types

Post by NorthLondonMum »

Does anyone know if NFER ever write special 11+ papers for schools that contain questions other than the 15 or 21 types?

Thanks

For standard format, yes, lots!

For multiple choice we believe, based on possibly unreliable feedback, that for Reading School NFER prepare a paper that includes some variations.

For example my DS reported VR

odd word out one from five not a standard NFER
farming field agriculture forestry ?????

Not a big change. We did some extra preparation by looking at standard format questions which could be formatted as multiple choice above and beyond the 21 types.

You might get more feedback if you ask on the forum naming the schools. :)

Thanks,

I'm interested in Latymer, Edmonton. I'm not clear on the variety of VR questions to expect. The exams are, I believe, standard format set by NFER. The school sells Athey papers for practice.

HI NorthLondonMum

For standard format papers it may be worth looking at the Lincolnshire section where NFER standard format questions, I think, are still set.

One of the question types that do appear on their tests are anagrams.

It is also worth looking at the Susan Daughtery "original" series of preparation material that is mostly in standard format.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply. I've had a look at Lincs and am beginning to understand the crucial difference between mc and standard - its not just about the format. I guess our motto will have to be "be prepared for anything"!
