Hi.,
We planned to relocate. Which areas to choose in relation to Gammar schools? Slough/langley/Amersham ( provided my son passes exams?)

You will need to choose your location very carefully indeed if you want to have the maximum choice of schools, especially the most popular Bucks grammars.
This page has just been updated to show the distances from school for Bucks GS allocations from 2006 to 2009.

The distances for the Upper schools also give you a clue as to which are most popular - the shorter the distance, the more sought after the school.
Ask on Berks for more information about their grammars and the alternatives if the 11+ doesn't work out.

Ref Berkshire grammars...
At the moment only Herschel has a catchment area (part catchment) so the others do not restrict where you live as long as you pass the 11+ with a high enough score.

The prospective Y7 open evenings are usually held in September/October - it might be worth your while looking around a few before committing to a location. A school that looks good on paper may not have the right "feel" for your son. Check out the uppers as well as the grammars as they vary considerably - what may suit one child may be completely wrong for another especially in terms of specialism - for example, for DS we listed one with a Maths/Science specialism in preference to one with a Performing Arts specialism.
