Watford Boys postcode Criteria please explain!

Post by harrowmum »

Having read the postcode criteria several times on school website and info on sticky I'm still not clear about the postcode criteria for watford boys.

I would like to apply for a place for d/s at the school under specialist place. We live in outer watford area. First past of postcode seems eligible second part (the numbers) does not seem to. Not sure how the distance thing works

Can anyone please please advise asap? is it worth my d/s sitting for the test? I would really appreciate.

Many thanks

Having looked at the Watford Boys admission criteria it seems that there are 3 areas, 1) the watford area, 2) rest of admissions area, 3) everyone else.

In order to stand a chance at a place you will need to fall into 1 and 2 as the school is always oversubscribed and it is extremely unlikely any area 3 children will be offered a place.

To qualify for area 1 or 2 your postcode will have to match one of those listed. For example, for the rest of the admissions area if you have a postcode of WD6 3TF you will qualify under the "WD6 3" postcode but if your postcode is WD6 4TF you won't qualify as the second part doesn't start with a 3.

I hope this make sense. If you aren't sure which admissions area you fit into you could always phone the school and ask them.

Thank you so much Alison, such a quick response!

Its very clear information. I dont think my d/s has a chance as full postcode is not covered.

Thanks again for looking into this.
