chis and sid grammar school

please can anyone give me their opinions of chis and sid school - good and bad. i have occasionally there is some bullying going on???? is this just a rumour? which school do you prefer for boys chis and sid or beths? thank you.

Excellent school, I have nothing bad to say about it.
As for bullying, all schools have bullying and anyone who says different is not exactly telling the truth. The way that bullying incidents are dealt with is the issue.

Many years ago was known as Sizzlehurst and hiccup due to the vi form parties.

Twix - as Tracy says, bullying happens at every school, the question is how it is dealt with. I have no direct experience of Chis & Sids though do know people with children there who are extremely happy. I think it's a lovely school and it was a very close second choice for DS2.

As you say, that was many years ago. In fact it goes back to approximately 25 years ago when ONE 6th form party resulted in this nickname due to a headline in The Sun! I think it's a wonderful school with a very good reputation. Unfortunately we were slightly out of catchment

Chis & Sid is our first choice of the Bexley grammar schools, however, I see that the school was inspected by Ofsted in April this year and it's overall effectiveness was assessed as grade 2 (good) whereas both Bexley grammar school and BETHS are assessed as grade 1 (outstanding). Does anyone have any background information?

My eldest is at Beths & I am very happy with it.

I put it down first as my own personal preference was for an all boys school.

I have a friend whose son is at C&S and she says she is very happy her son is there.

She didn't want Beths for her son as she thought the Beths headmaster sounded very austere when she went for an open day.

Bet that doesn't help then - sorry.

My dd is now in YR9 and we have been very pleased with Chis & Sid so far. All her friends are happy too and none of them have experienced bullying.

There may well be incidents that they are unaware of, but I would say it isn't something the school has a bigger problem with than any other.

I would have been happy for my dd to attend any of the three grammars, but Chis & Sid was her first choice and the one we felt suited her best.

thank you for all your replies. i would just like to mention that my son is not at all sporty, and have heard that chis and sid is very sporty. do you feel that this would be problem?? thank y ou

I think Chis & Sids is a specialist sports school and I remember reading that all children in KS3 are expected to take part in some form of physical activity at least one day a week after school. But I think you will find most grammar schools put a lot of emphasis on sport. They all achieve very highly academically so sporting achievements are a way of distinguishing themselves from other schools. Certainly Beths takes sport very seriously. But having said that, there are lots of children at grammar schools who aren't at all sporty and I don't think it causes problems. I suspect that most of the people who choose Chis & Sids do so because they like the feel of the school, or it's a convenient journey rather than because of its sports reputation, so I would be surprised if they had a higher number of sporty children than any other GS in the borough.
