Help required on hidden word question please

Post by sam1310 »

Hello

Working through S.Daughtrey, Verbal Reasoning, Practice Test Papers Pack 2, Test 6. Q23

"The man wore a flat hat". My son managed to find 2 words and ofcourse marked the one which was not accepted by the answer sheet.
Surely both words are correct (them and that). But what to do if something like this occurs on the real test.

Or are we doing something wrong. He is panicking and I don’t know how to help him on this one. Please advise.

Thanks
PS thank you for all help up to this point. Being reading avidly all this time, just never contributed.

Had 2 of these last night in an mw educational vr paper. Both answers are corrct and I agree that would be better checked in exam.

We noticed the same thing when my DD did the same paper last week, and also spotted that the following question had 2 possible answers - able (the one given on the answer sheet) and twit - I wondered whether that would be considered as slang, but it appears in my dictionary! It's be nice if these people proof read their papers a bit better, as our kids have enough on their plate without having dilemmas about things like that!

OMG Tree
Is this 22nd type of question.?
It is so much on our minds at the moment, that last thing we need is to have dilemmas of how many words can be found in this question. We can not afford to have any mistakes if we want to get in a chosen grammar school, as we might not have any place given next September. We live OOC. We are taking on a big risk, hence our nerves are like violin strings.
