Hi Nelly Eita
Here is an exerpt from a previous post.....
HI worried.... slough grammar test results will be out 'mid october'

Quote:
Following the test you will be informed in mid
October 2009 of your child’s test result. If he/she
has reached the pass mark (usually 111), he/she
may be therefore eligible for a place at Slough
Grammar School. This is not an actual offer of a
place as places can only officially be offered by
Local Authorities on or after 1st March 2010.
There is no guarantee of a place as places will be
allocated according to children’s test scores (with
the exception of children with Special Educational
Needs, those with higher scores get priority) and
there may be more children passing the test than
there are places available

The consortium are usually out first week in December..

Quote:
Early in December 2009 the results of the tests will be posted to the parents/guardians of the candidates. The letter will give the candidate's standardised score. If the candidate has reached the standardised score of 111 or above, he/she is eligible to be considered for a place at the grammar school in the Consortium, which has been named as the highest preference of the Consortium Grammar Schools on their Common Application Form.

Decision

Post by Nelly Eita »

Would it affect my son's eligibility if I put Slough Grammer 2nd or 3rd on the Local Authorities form? Or do you only consider the standardised score? For example; if he scores 118 and put the school 2nd on the application form what are the chances or if he put it first? Also if more than 200 people put Slough Grammer as there first choice and were eligible to get a place how do you pick?

Thank You

I would fill in your CAF with your preferred school first.

SGS has (in the past) sent out its own letters offering a place as well as the LEA offering you your highest placed school that you are eligible for.

If you put say SGS first and he scored 118 then he would be allocated SGS

If say you put Herschel first and SGS second , your son scored 110 for Herschel (not eligible) and 118 for SGS then again your son would be allocated SGS.

If you put Herschel first and your son scores 120 for Herschel and 118 for SGS then you are eligible for both schools and will be allocated your first preference..... Herschel.
If more than 200 people put Slough Grammer as there first choice and were eligible to get a place how do you pick
The allocation should be done on scores and operate an 'equal preference' system.

SGS offer to the highest scores first (It doesnt matter where on the CAF they are put)
If the child has also qualified for a higher preference school then the LEA will inform SGS and work down the list so that each child should get the highest pref school that they qualify for.

There are subsequent rounds of offers as people (sometimes decide to go private) turn down offers. Therefore you may be offered a higher preference in the months following allocation day.
