Avatar (not the movie)

If you click on a profile there is a heading of "Avatar" .Was this so we could have individual pictures, graphic representations etc. and if so why don't we? I know this would probably take a lot of space so this may be why.
Not particularly bothered,just wondering

I have obviously been quite dim. Not that that would come as any sort of suprise to anyone who knows me but...
I shall now endeavour to attach an avatar to my profile.

No it was me who was dim. Desbite having a wonderful little guy tooting away I did not realise what an avator even was!

Hey T.i.p.s.y.- you knew it, you just didn't know you knew it. And anyway at least yours works, I can't seem to get mine to fit on the page!

The Avatar would appear with your username on the left, not seen one on this forum yet so the feature may not be enabled.

Tipsy's pipe is an image in the signature slot, we have had loads of those on this forum.

If you click on someone else's profile you will see a banner saying "Avatar", but nothing underneath it.

The Avatar feature is disabled on this Forum. They are most often used on Forums where people use their real identity and want to post a pic of themselves. Not much point in that on here!

So, if the feature was enabled on here we would just get lots of fairly gratuitous pics that eat up bandwidth and make the Forum slower to load.

Oh well, I'll post the pic I tend to use as my avatar any way

It's a foot high beech shield, I designed the cross myself and then burnt it on to the wood using a pyrography iron. Anyone else got any artwork to share?
