DS Lite Maths and other games

Post by Villagedad »

Hi all

Am thinking of getting our 8 year old a DS Lite for Christmas and wondered which games you would recommend for his age with regards to maths and general puzzle type games that will be fun and help him with long term 11plus prep.

I have come across the following but would like to hear which people have used and which they'd recommend:

Professor Kageyama's Maths Training
Clever Kids: Maths
Professor Layton and The Curious Village
Maths Play
Junior Brain Trainer

Many thanks

Prof Layton, most def.
And, for fun (!) anything to do with mario and luigi goes down well. As well as the Lego whatever - yes, odd, there are games of pixallated lego versions of Indiana Jones, Batman etc which mine, at least, have loved.

Prof layton is brilliant!!!

But highly addictive my ds had to fight me for his console.

The puzzles in it are great and really test your maths knowledge.

I am waiting for the tests to finish before buying the new one.

DS loved prof layton, as did I, horribly addictive. Big brain was very popular as was Brain training. The maths training was not good, we borrowed it and gave it back quickly, Just tables grids and a general lack of entertainment.
