Laptops
I am thinking of getting my ds a laptop for christmas and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice as which one would be suitable. The main reason would be for school homework and also for playing games and downloading, something with quite a bit of memory space. Ds has been talking about the dell lolipop ones but iam a complete novice when it comes to computers. thanks.
My daughter has had a (pink) Dell for about a year (birthday present when the previous "family" laptop finally began to die). We ordered it online, can't remember the exact spec. She seems happy with it, though we did have to have the hard drive replaced a few weeks ago which caused some panic with various coursework tasks, but Dell sent out a technician very quickly (next day) to sort it out under guarantee after I'd phoned the customer support and they'd talked me through various checks (it had started to crash unpredictably).

If it's any consolation the guarantee probably wouldn't have covered the keys anyway, as we found to our cost when DS's laptop still under warranty from J*hn L*wis had the same problem, except that one of his keys broke completely. The guy at JL said we needed a complete new keyboard (for one key ), but I searched on E*ay and there was a wonderful little man who sent us a new key and very careful instructions for fitting it for about £5, all neatly packaged up from America! It arrived really quickly too.Looking for help wrote:We have a pink Dell too....sadly one or two of the keys fell off, and we've had to glue them back on (just after the guarantee ran out ).
It works well though, and was considerably cheaper than the Sony one we had before
