Finding a tutor

What is the best way to get a good tutor, and what will qualify a person to be called a good tutor?

Not sure whether a tutor is really worth it. The last one l had kept missing DS mistakes and rushing.

Any advice of how to idenitfy a good tutor?

Personal recommendation is the best way to find a good tutor. Talk with your friends who have older kids and had employed a tutor. Then go along to have a caht with the tutor taking your DC with you as it is your DC who needs to have a good raport with the tutor. if the two don't hit it off then it won't help. One more thing. If your DC is one who will sit and work with you (some children play up to mum and dad but are good as gold with others) and you feel you can get to grips with the Maths, verbal and non verbal (and have the time to sit and work with her/him) then save yourself money and do it yourself. The tutors don't have any nore material than what is available to us parents. You can buy resources from book shops and this web site. Set aside a time and a place in the house where you will work with DC. Tell rest of the family that you both are not to be disturbed and that this is the time you need to be with you DC and no one else. Children like that (atleast mine did ). Good luck.
