I decided to make Delia's christmas pudding yesterday without reading the whole recipe first. It wasn't until I got to the end that I realised I'd made a massive pud but don't have a steamer (don't even know what they look like). Can anyone tell me how I can cook this without a steamer please? :(

Do you have a slow cooker? You can cook it in that

No!

Busy scanning the internet at the mo. Food processor has just broken down too so let's hope things do come in threes and nothing else is going to pack up although fan in oven is making a funny noise!

Hi Tipsy

You don't need a steamer, just a big saucepan - instructions on what to do here.

It's a pleasure to save the Tipsy household pud.

Just make sure that the pan doesn't boil dry.

No pity....that's what you get for being such a domestic goddess! :D

I was given a gift of small container of home made plum brandy by the parent of a child who stayed overnight recently. She said "that's for your christmas baking"...
  Don't have a clue (or the time).Brandy went down well though

I am not a domestic goddess I am afraid...

A tip my MIL swears by and seems to work (providing you don't mind all your efforts going up in flames so to speak):

Just before you serve the pud, warm the brandy you douse it in before setting it alight! It'll burn for longer and give a lovely flavour.

Merry Christmas. :)
