Which answer number replaces the question mark?

(a) 4
(b) 6
(c) 7

DS1 gone for a run but I'll set him onto it when he gets back (he's just done the 11+ for goodness sake) and I can't even see a pattern!!!!!

I asked my OH (he's a mathematician who does this kind of thing for fun :roll: )
He says the answer is (b)6

(4+1+3) = 8
(7+6+3) = 16
so for the pattern to continue..
(9+9+x) = 24
x=6

DS1 would concur!! His mother could only just see it when it was explained to her! He got it in about 20 seconds!!!! Ho hum - when the child overtakes the parent!!!!
