Hi I have a daughter starting at Townley this Sept.

Be really grateful for any opinions (good or bad) for the school.

Hi there, my daughter is also starting this September, so I am also interested in any current views of the school.

I do have three friends whose daughters are there and both the parents and daughters are very happy with it. One of the girls is in the year 12 and told me at christmas that she couldn't think of anything bad to say about it so that's fairly good I think! One of the girls transferred from an independent school for the sixth forrn and is also very pleased with it. However, I'm sure there will be people who have not had such good experiences, but I have not met any!

I have a daughter at Townley in year 8. All I can say is that her experience thus far has been a very positive and happy one. The common "complaint" seems to be the homework but the Headteacher made it very clear early on in year 6 that the pressure of the homework very often comes from the girls themselves, spending more time on projects than they should be in their aim for perfection. My daughter has really grown in confidence since being at Townley. The atmosphere has been a very caring one with the older girls really looking out for the younger ones especially when they start in year 6. The only negative thing is that Mrs Hutchinson (HT) is leaving and a new Head is due to start after Easter. I hope your daughter settles in and has as similar positive experience as my daughter

Thank you so much to you both for your feedback.

It is always worrying when opting for a new school and I am relieved to hear such positive experiences at Townley.

Best wishes

Do most of the girls at Townley tend to be from surrounding areas to Bexleyheath?

When I looked at the Bexley Admissions Booklet (it is online on the Bexley Website) the table showing Home to School distance showed that Townley's intake last year was 7 miles (from memory).

We live five miles and are out of borough, my daughter was not a top 180 scorer and she has been offered a place for September this year, I have heard of other girls who live further who have also been offered places so I think that the distance will be up to 6.5 or 7 again this year.

Hi Greenwich Mum

My daughter is starting Townley in September and will probably be travelling on the 89 bus.

Do you know of many other girls travelling from the Greenwich/Blackheath area?

I would love her to have people to travel with.

Thanks

Hi Blackheathmum,

My daughter will be travelling from Eltham/Kidbrooke area, they will get the 132. So I don't know if that would be any help?

I wonder if your daughter will meet up with others on the day in June who are travellng from Blackheath?

Thanks GreenwichMum,

I will ask around at the June meeting.
My daughters best route is the 89, I'm hoping there will be a few people on that route???

Best Wishes
