could you use loo roll or kitchen roll tubes for engine and carriage, very aerodynamic, it wouldn;t need wheels as it uses magnetic levitation. Cone for front and back of train (think eurostar)

Dont need 'engine'/ driver because it is electronic :)
Cover in whatever kind of wrapping paper your DC chooses - allows for girly bit (sorry if I got this bit wrong! - had feeling you'd mentioned Dc was 'girly' in the other thread)
magnetic 'tracks' made of drinking straws?
Make solar power panels from cardboard covered in tin foil & stick them on the top.

I think a train of the future will probably be invisible.

Look around kitchin/bathroom/recycling bin for interestingly shaped packaging. Plastic milk bottles have loads of aerodynamic curves that are great for fairings and nose cones.and cut up provide sheets of plastic suitable for glueing or stapling in to shapes. A certain squash manufacturer(think Wimbledon) has litre bottles that have what looks like window details on the curved top.
Definitely agree that future trains will be maglev so no need for wheels but aerofoils and tailplanes may be in order.
