I am aware of the 13+ entrance exam for KES but is that also for the Grammer schools as well?
Also, can children apply for entrance into Year 8, again for both? HAs anyone any knowldege/experience of this?
Many thanks

No 13+ is only for the independent sector.

There are occasional vacancies in other years but these are normally filled by transfers into the area who didn't take the exam at 11+. There is an entrance exam for these pupils

The KES intake at 13+ is tiny (i.e. in single figures). I think it was 5 this year.

Really? The last I heard they had 5 places available and had 30-some applications for them. But that was a while ago, obviously.

There may be more boys, who couldn't make the ceremony for various reasons, but only one very tall 13 year old appeared on stage, looking a LOT older than the 11 yr olds (and a lot more awkward, poor fellow)!
