Henley High School?

Post by legaraal »

My DD is due to sit 11+ at Henley High School on 2 Oct. Can anyone tell me, is there likely to be traffic / parking chaos arriving there on the morning? I gather that there is always traffic / parking chaos for the 11+ at the King Edwards schools, esp Camp Hill, when the kids do that exam in November. Have read anecdotes about children who actually missed the KECH exam because parents unable to get near to it in car / park etc. I don't want to get there unnecessarily early with DD, because she is the nervous type, and it will just make her even more nervous. But obviously do not want to risk missing exam!!

Thanks

C'mon folks, surely someone has had some experience of this? Or else I'll be reduced to phoning the LEA, who will doubtless tell me to arrive with plenty of time to spare, which will potentially result in my daughter being a nervous wreck before the exam has even started!!

Hi
we aren't ignoring you - honest!! Not many warwickshire people around. i am intrigued about you taking the 11plus at Henley High - rather than the GS or the primary school. Is that how it works in Warks?

I've no experience of Henley High, but perhaps tests for KE schools take place at the schools themselves (?), whereas in Warks there are several test centres which should spread the candidates out. My older daughter took the 11+ at Alcester Grammar two years ago and parking wasn't a problem, though I can't remember how early we arrived. The Admissions office might be able to tell you how many children are to sit the test in Henley, which would give you more of an idea of the potential for chaos.

If your daughter is very nervous, the best option might be to get someone to drop you off so that you can swan in at the last minute, but I know that might be more easily said than done.

My son did his 11+ at Henley last year and it was fine, no traffic chaos and we managed to park on site without too many issues. We did leave plenty of time though to avoid any stress!

In Warks 11 plus exams are taken in your nearest secondary school - when my DS did his exam, there were around 200 children so it was very busy but they do give you lots of time for checking in etc.

I think the suggestion of getting someone to drop you both off at the school is the best option as you won;t have to worry about finding a parking space etc.
