This year 6000 kids sat the Bexley test

Post by trumpet »

Any thoughts on what this will do to the pass mark. I assume that people only put children in for the test if they think they have a chance of passing.

Is that registrations or children who actually sat the test?

When I asked Bexley council yesterday they said that until all papers are returned from the test centres, they won’t know how many children have sat the tests because some of those who register are withdrawn before the tests, or do not turn up on the day

If 6000 is indeed the number of kids that sat the test then the pass rate will probably be 99.9%... Cleeve Park here we come.

From the Bexley booket, all Children in a Bexley primary school are automatically entered for the exams and it is up to the parent to decide they do not want their child to do the test. This has to be put in writing. Also remember there are a lotf of parents that there dc's sit the tests but have not practiced or preapred them as they are not interested in GS.

I heard the same that they can't know how many kids have sat the tests until all papers have been returned to the council.

Exactly 21 days to the results arriving on our door steps.

We are in a Bexley school. In our school a lot of parents are not worried about GS places and seem content with the non-selective options on offer, however as far as I'm aware these children have not been withdrawn. The attitude seems to be if we pass we pass if we don't we don't.

Based on last years figures, it would be interesting to find out how many out of Borough children have taken the test, because they will have to enter rather than opt out.

Dani,

thats the same for al lot of other Bexley schools apart from the indie preps. My neighbour did not preapre her dd at all last yr and she did not pass which was ok by her. She goes to Beaverwood now and her mother is very elated.
I also know someone that sat the tests and had not seen a past question paper before and she did not find the test very easy but rather than write a letter to opt out they just do the tests anyway

Got the information from Bexley Council at Hill View. My letter telling which test centre to go to didn't arrive so I called them and they said they had sent out about 6000. So thats people who registered not the amount that actually sat the test but I'm pretty sure most will go who have registered.
