Smart is the only word that can go with all of the words in brackets.

Take each word on the answer sheet in turn and try it with the first word in the first set of brackets. Can hurt = burn? Possibly, because a burn can hurt. Hurt can also mean sting. Moving on, hurt cannot mean bright. Go straight on to the next word on the answer sheet. Keen does not mean burn, move on.

Smart can mean to burn or to sting (dictionary definition: "a prolonged stinging pain"). It also means bright or clever. A slightly obscure piece of vocab, I feel.

If there are one or two words that you don't recognise, focus on those that you do, and don't panic! Compare the words you do know with the answer sheet, rule out all those that you know cannot work and then make a sensible guess from those that remain.
