Transport to CRGS from central Chelmsford

We are currently applying to grammar schools for our year 6 son. I would be curious to know people's experiences of busing boys to CRGS from Chelmsford ? At roughly what time do buses depart in the mornings, and from where, and when are boys returning home? I have some concerns about the length of school day when it includes a potentially long commute. Any insights gratefully received.

our son picks up the 525 half way between chelmsford and colchester by which time it is nearly full. The boys all seem to cope fine.

I belive that there are two buses but have a look at the CSSE website for routes and timetables.
